Today’s Wardrobe

Ello!

This has been the prettiest week in Austin! Sunny with a cool breeze 🙂 Everytime it’s nice out, I always feel like I HAVE to dress cute that day. So this week has consisted of homework outside of coffee shops, taking cody(my dog) to the park everyday, awesome outfits, and halloween madness. For Halloween, I was a cat one weekend and a pirate the next. What were all of you dressed as? This picture was the morning after being a cat, I still had my whiskers on and I was snuggling with my roommates kitty.

It’s hard for me to dress up for school since I have 8AM classes everyday (I know I’m insane), so I usually try to sleep in as long as possible. However, this particular morning I literally threw on whatever I saw first, and ended up getting SO many compliments on it! Put me in the greatest mood 🙂

I’m wearing a dress from a garage sale in Austin- A group of students get together and sell all of their unwanted belongings every two months in north campus. It’s called wonder garage sale. I’ve been to every one so far and they are great! Me and cody will walk there, listen to some live music, shop around, eat some free food, and socialize. I’m hoping to volunteer at the next one, so be on the lookout!

my tights from urban outfitters from 2 christmas’ ago (thanks mom), and my combat boots are from target! I have been wanting brown combat boots for months…ask any of my friends, I would not shut up about them. Finally, this past weekend I got some extremely affordable ones and I’ve literally worn them everyday since then.

Me and doggie Cody hope you have enjoyed this post and wish you all a great rest of the week!

xoxo,

Outfit of the Day YAY

I might have mentioned this before but it is REALLY difficult to have an outfit of the day EVERY day. First reason, some days I am lazy, second reason, I may or may not repeat some of these outfits often, third reason, there are not many times I have to grab my camera during the day, find a nice place and set up a self timer.

But it makes it a lot easier when I have guy friends who dress well so that I can just call them to take a few pictures of me and for doing such a favor I include them in our blog! This time it was my friend Benjamin Armistead Conway, he deserves his full name out here in the cyber world. The way we met is pretty funny, but lets just say he now calls me Jackleen.

This is Benjamin Armistead Conway.

Here was my outfit:

I am wearing a pair of tights my mom got me from High Fashion Homes, my nine west boots, my dress is from Forever 21 (i do not shop their anymore, thank goodness ((They have major bad sweatshops)) ), The jacket is from I have no idea where… probably Marshalls, and the headband is my favorite part of the whole outfit!

The headband is new and is from a wonderfully little local vintage shop in San Antonio! This shop is called Montage and it is on the corner of E Grayson and St. Mary’s. It is sooo worth your visit! Not too expensive for vintage, but good quality with a personalized touch by the owner!
(She even made my headband herself!!)

—-have a wonderful week ^.^

Here is one for a promise!

I really do plan to keep these promises so here is the first DIY post. In case this is your first trip to a blog, DIY means Do-It-Yourself. Our kind of DIY will relate to jewelry, clothing, and crafts. Sadly, school has been hectic and I have not had a lot of time to actually make anything that special besides a few art pieces, but this summer I had plenty of time on my hands. I will try my hardest to regurgitate how I made these, with fewer pictures than I would have liked, but for everything I make in the future I will remember to snag photos along the way.

1. Dip Dye Shirts:

This is a shirt I made for myself this summer. I got some inspiration from http://www.lookbook.nu but had no job this summer so I had to get crafty and make my own!

Steps:

– I went to my local thrift store, one that they have everywhere which is a good one is Goodwill. I found a thin white shirt that was my size.

– I tried on the shirt and marked where I want the sleeves to lay on my shoulders, then just cut em right off!

– For the dye, I went to a local craft store and bought RIT dye in the red color, any color works the same way.

– You mix the instructions on the package of the dye, and I took the bottom of the shirt and rolled it up and clipped it with a hanger

– I mixed the dye in a bucket so I could hang my shirt upside down in the bucket and lay the hanger over the top to rest because it will need to sit for a few hours.

– When it is finally done and you have washed it properly ( by itself in warm water ) it is time to stud!

– I bought my studs from http://www.etsy.com but there are local fabric or craft stores if you are as impatient as I am to get crafting. The studs are up to your own creativity, but I usually go for the collar area, and different studs have different application processes so look on the package they come in.

Here is another one I made when I started selling some of my crafts!

A Day Of Yoga, Fashion, Music, and More

Ello!

We are just figuring out this whole blog thing so please bare with us, soon we will be having multiple posts per day! However, today I want to share with you this awesome FREE (yes, completely and actually free) event that I went to in downtown, Austin this past weekend.

I have to admit that I was hesitant about coming to this event at first. I have practiced lots of yoga in my life, but Austin’s expert yogis do intimidate me. Looking back on it, I am so glad I ended up going! There couldn’t have been any better way to spend my sunday morning.

The Free Yoga Class was quite different than any other one I had taken before. It was hosted by Wanderlust Livea local studio off of 4th street close to that huge Frost Bank Owl looking building. The studio is really unique because they host classes with live music. As if yoga wasn’t already relaxing! The concept of this studio came from Wanderlust Festival which is a big Music/Yoga Festival bringing together the master yogis, musicians, chefs, and winemakers.

As if I didn’t feel great already, I got the pleasure of tasting some free samples from Austin’s first acai cafe- Blenders and Bowls! They have delicious fruit bowls with organic fruit, hemp granola, and local honey! The best part is that they’re located inside Wanderlust Live, while also having their colorful truck roaming the streets of Austin!. Make sure to be on the lookout for it!

After eating this bowl of deliciousness, I couldn’t help but walk around the shop for a while. I mean who doesn’t love free people?! Although their clothing is a little out of my price range, I get some great outfit inspirations from them. And it’s okay to splurge sometimes 🙂 Go check out their new August Catalog when you get a chance!

Love,

Nadeen
